squid proxy with ssl
I'm trying to setup a captive portal type system using squid acl rules.
The network setup uses a dhcp server to hand out ip addresses on 2
different subnets over wifi 172.16.0.x being "known" clients and
192.168.0.x being "unkown" clients.
I can have squid send "unkown" clients to a registration page when they
try to browse the internet without ssl sites. but getting squid to do ssl
passthrough for ssl I cannot figure out. I'm not trying to cache or filter
ssl I just want squid to do passthrough which I know is possible, tim
hortons here locally does it with their wifi. you logon to open wifi and
soon as you try to browse it sends you to their terms of service page
wether you type in www.google.com or https://www.google.com (ssl) either
one you get redirected to their page WITHOUT a ssl warning.
does anyone know how to configure this
also note: I'm not using transparent proxy as I know this is impossible
with transparent and ssl. I have proxy auto discovery setup and working so
not sure if its a .pac file issue or not but can't seem to get the ssl to
work. if I turn on masquerade ssl works turn off masquerade and non ssl
works but ssl doesn't work.
thankyou ahead for your patience and assistance.
